Different types of Leather

Pigmented leather  is the most popular type of leather in th UK.  It is covered with a clear protective coating after pigments have been applied.  This helps to give it durability as well as covering any natural scars and blemishes from the hide.  This kind of leather is very hard wearing and so is fairly easy to look after.

Aniline leather  has been dyed to the required colour without the use of pigmentsThese leathers are usually top quality and show the natural markings.  Aniline leather will also change over time taking on a rich appearance in part, as well being prone to fading in direct sunlight.  This is also very absorbant and not so easy to clean or care for.

Nubuk leather is similar to Analine in as much as it has been dyed without pigments but it is then polished to give a 'nap' to the surface.

Antique / two tone leather has been dyed with a certain colour, and then over-lapped with a different colour which has the effect of an aged look.
